Lone Desert Wind

The sky, a pale blue, still bears stars of the desert evening before.
A lone coyote peers into the darkness, distancing himself from the dry and surreal surroundings.
Single stranded sun rays begin to pierce the nocturnal cloak that has draped itself over the earth for too long.
The coyote watches as dawn begins to pull this nocturnal cloak away.
He turns away to face a dusty barren land; the image of sunrise still burning in his sight.
The first breeze of the day ruffles his coarse fur as it brushes past him into the sandy plains.
The coyote glances one last time back into the blaring sun that has already settled itself into the morning sky.
With the new day awaiting, the coyote bounds off into the distance.

I saw this picture through a coyote's eyes in the desert. I don't know why this first thought came into my mind but I built up on it. Hope you enjoyed.

This is a very interesting piece, I would make just one suggestion. that perhaps breaking this into smaller stanzas might work better for the reader but it is a really good piece. Best to you

This is really a very deep and nicely thought out poem with great imagery. If I may offer a suggestion, try not to draw the lines out so long, I know I have that problem and perhaps if you were to avoid the Use of "the", "that""of" "as" "into" and words like that it often helps. Just my opinion, I still enjoyed this poem allot.

thank you for your entry and good luck in the contest

This poem is short but really beautiful,I especially love the lines "Single stranded sun rays begin to pierce the nocturnal cloak that has draped itself over the earth for too long. The coyote watches as dawn begins to pull this nocturnal cloak away."You are extremely gifted i hope to read more of yours i also love how it is somewhat storylike and resolves around a coyote.
