All through life I've wondered
What was promised me
Nothing, not a bit was
And that just mustn't be
Life has been rough at times
But who's gauge am I using
My own or society's
Or one that's less amusing
Do we expect too much
On this land we're to survive
I would like to think not
But alas that too is jive
Doesn't matter if others suffer
Even more so than I do
Not that I discount them
But my focus is not on you
I do have great compassion
And much care for all others
But if I'm fighting my pain
It is just so hard to bother
So as I've weathered my pain
And come more strongly through it
I do come alongside you
To lift you from your own pit
I have been where you're at
I'll share my pain with yours
Instilling visions of hope
Of going through your storm
Let's walk this path together
A journey of strength and love
For we can come shining through this
With the Father up above
