Let Freedom Ring (Bronze Trophy)

Missing image
The colors flash before my eyes
As rocket sounds are heard
A brilliant display of freedom
As our heroes spread the word

That freedom was declared
With a stroke of the mighty pen
At the price of many lives
A price we’d pay again

We continue that fight today
As off to war our forces go
To face the pain and sorrow
To put down freedom’s foe

Each year we pay tribute
To those who’ve helped to keep us free
And their loved ones sit and weep
While they fight for you and me

So sing their praises loud and clear
These brave ones who take up the fight
Don’t let freedom be taken away
Let it ring both day and night

I think many these days have forgotten why we fight when freedom does have its cost... sometimes in blood...
let us remember those who given their lives so that we can live in this land!

    Excellent

Oh I just loved this poem. Congradulations on the Bronze, but sis I thought this was a golden write....

Don't let freedom be taken away
Let it ring both day and night

The poem is so true to life and our country. The imagery and flow of your poem is just excellent. Thank you for sharing your gratitude for our Country with such beautifully penned poetry.
    Many Blessings

a good piece of poetry, i geat a sense of the fourth of july here - being englinsh it does not mean as much to me, i see it as a fireworks day like we get on november the 5th rather than a freedom one, but as i say i am not american so it eludes me with that still - a good poem anyway despite my look on it

Thank you, Ian Yes, 4th of July, our Independence Day here in the USA is a very meaningful holiday for Americans. Lots of celebration with fireworks, BBQ's, fun things to do. But alas, for many, the original meaning has gotten lost in the rush to just have another reason to celebrate without giving a thought as to why. I like the fun too, but for me it's much more than that.

It's a good write. I like how you include the loved ones and how they mourn the lack of their soliders. My fiance was in the Air Force, and I am glad he is now out of active duty. He was medically discharged, after he came back from Iraq. I really like this, good job.

This is very good sis...Glad you entered ...Sometimes we forget what a holiday is suppose to be for...we have resorted to celebrating only the gifts we get or the food we eat...not the reasons...Good luck in the contest...

One thing I have learned in my life is that freedom is definately not free. Sadly, many countless souls have paid and will pay with their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. I proudly salute all those who serve. Good luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long
