Tiresome days at the office float by,
Soul mates with the television.
The dining room choked by dust,
Always eating on the couch.
Until the time arrived
When a switch flickered in his ageing mind:
His days would run smoother
If he packed an eraser.
The wig was sewn
And red velvet did appear;
Church orchard was the scene
Where heart and soul grew near.
Graceful dip to knees
Joined by the trace of a raging smile;
This epic wait had been worth the while.
