can the sea help

waves come in
like thoughts of the problems
you are facing
with your ex-husband
and the way he abandoned
you and  his children
in the search for money

the drowned people
coming to the shore
remind me of his heart,
his seaweed heart
the empty shell of him
picked by birds
near the rocks

forget him, my love
let the memory of him
rot on the sand
on the open beach
where everyone can see
just what kind of man he was
so they can stomp on him
and bury his infidelity and greedy sins

the sea is a great god
of wonder and discipline

you are the sea and he is
the rubbish of the sea
bashed upon the sharpest of rocks
again and again
in a torture of death
and exposure

salt fills the air
& sand moves underneath us
and the tide comes in as far as it can
and then goes out again
dragging the sins of his dishonesty
into the ocean.

he deserves to remain in the shallows
because he is shallow
was always shallow
and the depth of the ocean
is not the place for
the likes of a liar like him

the sea comes in
and the sea goes out
and you and i walk near the sandstone cliffs
wondering what will fall
and what will be taken out with the waves
and what will remain
while we embrace and kiss
as the sun breaks out of the clouds
and the sea whispers upon the sand

What a wonderful man you must be as you envelope your love with these beautiful thoughts as she waits for the other shoe to fall. Speaking from experience, no matter what (he) has done, the feeling of failure still lingers for her. You are doing the perfect thing, trying to throw her a lifeline. Make sure the line is strong and long. Soon she will take hold of it and hang on. You...would be that lifeline.

Your poem, this one, is one that hit home for me. It brought back a lot of sad memories which I have forgiven, but will NEVER forget. I really like this one though. Your words and thoughts are viewed with perfection on your part. Keep up the good work.
