Ollie is my dog, you see
A “Jack” of fine device
He loves to spend his day in the yard
Guarding against birds, rabbits and mice
Twas 5 o’clock somewhere
On June the 28th
And I arrived from my workplace tired
And Ollie cried by the gate
He had an opinion ‘bout an unwanted guest
And inquired permission
To attend to this interloper post haste
Yes, he was on a mission
Not being one to stifle creativity
A myth I’d like to debunk
I put him to the mysterious task
But the mystery turned out to be a skunk
Faster than lightning, stronger than dirt
He went under the house like a wink
Had there been no mystery I’d a changed my mind
Too late, I could smell the stink
I’d like to say this is all to the “tail”
But alas, tis not the case
For later that night, near 12 on the clock
Ollie got it again in the face
Oh whoa to Ollie and more to us
For we now are to be pitied
What used to be our sweet happy home
Is now known as skunk city!

Very cute! We have skunks where I live too. When they spray, one can smell them from blocks away, so I know what you mean when you say, "Skunk City". Awful!
-
Oh, my!
The things they get into! Reminds me of scotty. Very cute puppy; I always wanted a Jack Russell, but they were too hyper for my family.

he's no problem - right now, he's curled up in a ball on the livingroom floor sleeping like a baby...
2nd best dog I've ever had
(Billy the Collie still is #1, God rest his K-9 soul)

imagery!?....this is real tactile stuff here....we're still trying to clear the air (yuck)
Maybe someday my dog will not smell like skunk - I'll be satisfied if my house become inhabitable again...

A great laugh. A wonderful and funny little story/poem about your dog. The rhyming made it fill with more humour. Got to love those pets.

Great Write
Good morning Wade. Ah poor litle Ollie. Nothing worse then getting sprayed with a skunk. At least once a month that smell permeates through the air here. Usually in the middle of the night when the windows are open and wakes me up. A wonderful poem you have penned. Hope all is well. Good to see you back, Take care.
Bless You,
Sandy

There is no more potent smell than skunk, they should be able to use it for some good scientific purpose. It could be bottled in a spray like mace or something. I feel sorry for you because I know how bad it is, it makes dogs nauseous,

don't I know it!
Ollie STILL smells of skunk - and its been three weeks
beleive me, it has traumatized us all - my daughter even convienced me to burn incense :}
we are trying to learn from this and TRYING to skunk prook our back yard and have already taken care of the house issue
WORD TO THE WISE: if your air conditioner has a space between the concrete pad and the unit cabinet - SEAL IT OFF
the company we hired to trap the skunks under the house said that 95% of skunks get under your house this way
thanks for your sympathy

A few weeks ago, I was awakened by a strange snarling sound within the wall between my bedroom and the bathroom, I removed a panel that covers the piping and a big possum was making a home under my bathtub. I took a broom and poked around enough that I think he left, but he had a nest of leaves under my tub, he had definitely moved in.
