My 'D' and me

After the past three years of having the ‘D’

I’ve finally came to except this is the new me

The eat anything, if, when and wanted me, has had to part

So coping and dealing with my ‘D’ has already made a start 

.

I’m using all my strength inside,

To show that in my health I’ve pride

Miracles don’t usually happen over night 

So coping and dealing with my ‘D’, for a while will be a fight 

.

But to fight I am prepared, a battle I know I will win

I have the strength, the want, the need, to beat Madam ‘D’ within

.

Author notes

my 'D' refers to my Diabetis ... we have called her Madam D

assignment from Jems ... compose a 10 line poem on how you are going to start dealing with your 'D'

I posted this in the hope that others who are struggling to cope with their 'D' will be inspired and the strength to cope and deal with it

    What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger. And you can strengthen yourself with having diabetes! Thank's for sharing this touching piece! You truly are inspirational!

    Well done Judie, a wonderful poem. It's good to see you get on top of your problem. I have type two diabetes and know that if I eat sensibly I can stay healthy, I'm glad to see that you think the same way.

    Great write I've got diabetes myself, since I was 13. This poem is well compositoned and structured and brings back the memories of when I was diagnosed. The inspiratinal mood to it is a major plus. Great work!

    I'm glad you're going to take this illness seriously. It can cause so many problems. Several members of my family have it. My sister works for Joslin Clinic, which is a renowned hospital just for diabetes.

    Great poem about commitment and an important topic to boot!

    You know, for a moment I thought this might have been about depression - since I've heard it called the Big, Ugly D.
