Braindead

Have you ever been so tired,
that you couldn't sleep for days?
Then, when you finally do,
you feel like you can never get enough sleep,
for weeks afterwards?
Why do our bodies betray us like that?
You would think that,
after millions of years of evolution
(or if you're religious,
7 days of intense brainstorming.)

that we'd have figured out
what's "good" and "bad".
You'd think our instincts
wouldn't be as stupid
as our brains.
Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.
Or, maybe it is.
I've always been a masochist
I guess my body just takes it to a whole new level.

"Use me, Mistress.
Shove your sweet melting chocolate
into my mouth
and spray your cherry coke
all over my face.
I like it like that."

(I thought my body and I
came to an agreement
during puberty.
Damn thing keeps reneging.)

Author notes

More observation than anything .. I'm irritated at my body for being stupid and confusing.

That is a genius line. I enjoyed the whole piece thoroughly but that line definately stuck out.

    Hey HB,

It gets worse as you get older and try to do the stuff that you could when you were younger. Nothing is more fun than bout three am when you wake-up and realise that the gyro and fries you had for dinner was a BAAAAAD idea! Funny, I could get away with it twenty years ago.
