One [summer] day I sat sipping a [glass]
of [lemonade] while eating [strawberries]
and dipping them in [chocolate]--what class.
How sparkling ripples bounce light and carries
my dreams from poolside, this is unsurpassed.
I’m floating through this [artificial] dream;
the [golden] [sounds]--of [silence], [paints] my [scene].
The smell of [violets] fills the air and seems
an [never]-ending delight, shared between
no one but me; the day [becomes] supreme.
Until my dream was [interrupted] by
a crash; bent [aluminum], shards of glass,
a noise so loud you'd think someone might die.
I jump right up, ran to the [overpass].
The mangled cars just made me want to cry.
I [listened] for the sound of sirens but
there were none. One scream is what could be heard.
She'd called their names; a feeling in my gut,
told me there'd be no answer—not a word.
Little would she know the world just slam shut.
The motion starts as slow while folks give aid.
The cars are [folded]; [woven] in a form
like custom art on the [corner] displayed
for those who pass the [location] transform
the blank stares into an urgent crusade.
Author notes
I am working on the entire list-- which wasn't easy considering the amount of word and they are so different. If I miss the judging, which I hope to be finished by the close i'm sorry, but, I tried... I will get it done regardless. Luckily I am writing it so the poem could almost stop at each stanza.
