Fly on against the current.
Though in a sea of limits and rules,
I choose to fly across the water,
There is no harm of sinking or drowning
While I soar on.
The self-proclaimed nonconformists
Swim on against the current.
So many people get pride from convincing
Themselves that they are unique,
But when everyone is swimming against the current,
Are they not all conforming to that form of nonconformity?
Pondering this irony I laugh as I soar above,
Watching others swim,
And they think they are special.
With a cool breeze of freedom,
And with the crowded water splashing my face,
I fly.

I like the ideas of birds being seperate from the main flow of people, perhaps more enlightened and above ironic human trends. I felt like this was halfway in between prose and poem, that was cool, but it could have gone either way and been developed more.
Thank you for the entry,
