What Have You Learned

What have you learned,
what have you earned.
Has it taken it's toll?
See the bridges you burned?
And all the while,
how you'd hoped and you'd learned,
and you watch,
your beating heart as it's churned.

How does it feel now,
to know you have failed?
The mission you sought,
never knew what it entailed.

You steal from your friend,
and you meet your dark end.
You start crawling back,
with desired ties to mend.
And now you are claiming,
you've found love so true.
Knowing so little about,
the words "I Love You."
Your ignorance seems to spread like a cancer,
you look and you touch as you try to romance her.
You're asking the questions,
you don't want the answer.

The answer is not what you had perceived,
a man of your vanity never believed.
,You are the one who's been truly deceived,
I'll now have you know that she feels so relieved.

You're planting the seeds and watching them grow,
yet you won't even begin to know.
That the lust you have felt for the plenty,
has lost you the trust of so many.

Yet you continue to live in bliss,
creating an image of the next girl's kiss.
You lust and you wait for their bonding to end,
then you turn your back on your "very best friend."
You take no remorse for what you have done,
I simply hope that you're having your fun.

Soon comes the day when it comes crashing down,
in your past mistakes will be where you must drown.
So look at the friendships you've already lost,
so tell me dear boy,
was it worth the cost.

Author notes

I get these occasions where a few lines echo in my head, and well I just ran with it.
It's not one of my better ones, but not everyone I write's gonna be a hit I suppose.
Just find it really ironic that someone leaves a few year friendship over a simple rejection, and I also find it ironic that someone can claim that love doesn't exist yet chase after it. Do you wish to know what the most ironic thing about it is however? When someone asks a question, and doesn't like the answers they receive.
Believe me if the cards were different, I wouldn't have broken the friendship as this fool did. I know someone who will love this poem, and someone who will hate it.
I don't care, it's late at night and I'm feeling brutal and ballzy.

excellent verse..your flow and rhyme are good most of the way through..perhaps there are some minor touches to make the rhyme flow better in places..leaving some words out can help..this reads like it is very personal..and those are the best..can really feel the strong emotions in this one..thanx so much for sharing..blessings..namaste...
