She cries. No one is watching,
and she screams silently;
praying for something,
anything
to hang on to.
She asks where the truth is
but she knows it has left:
took a fast train to hell,
left with nary a wit.
Where do we stand when
no one cries foul,
and those left behind
stand confused and alone.
There is an answer and
so she waits,
for signs that His coming
is not far away.
But in the night,
she holds her heart tight,
knowing that only a few
will receive the love
this world needs
to survive.

This is sadly beautiful and you have done a great job relating to the prompt quote. So much emotion runs through this, and it delivers a powerful message. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Blessings, Patty

The last stanza really made a difference to me:
But in the night,
she holds her heart tight,
knowing that only a few
will give the love
this world needs.
Thank you for such beautiful entry and good luck in the contest... -
