For a while now, I've been calling you my earth,
the steady ground I walk easy upon
Solid, unshakeable, a sweet gravity
that pulls me back down when I'm so far gone
But I laid my head against the earth,
and I could hear its heartbeat
Alive, and all its strength is delicate
It can quake, it can crumble, it can die under my feet
When I'm having an earthquake of my own,
you're the rock that I grab onto
But rocks can break, so I'll be careful
to be kind to the earth and gentle with you
Author notes
