You trampce across the universe
looking for just one.
You swallow long and hard, your hurts
wanting a chat to soothe.
Someone calls your name, with flair
you turn, notice them there.
But, they're not 'the' one; won't fly;
their train tarnishes(sigh).
Yet again upon the proverbial horse
you hope this time for sure.
But, bottoms up, and joy flows down,
you ended up on the wrong tour.
So, with doubled, tripled faith, you go
once more to the friendship store.
Perhaps, this time will be the charm,
you end up right into his arms.
It's the friend who has walked you through
your stages of ups and downs.
That one; who you tell intimate thoughts,
that's the one with your heart.
The one, you've taken quite for granted,
you've cried with them, died...
Waded through shallow and deep waters,
wandered with them in dreams.
When their advice takes you past hurdles;
well, you know that is the 'one'
