Griffin

Missing image
Griffins guard the treasure trove
they lay their young in nests of gold.

A temptation for Scythian folk...

who'd care not to spill the yolk.

I like how this loops - Griffins guarding Scythian gold from the Scythians... but I just had to look all that up, I'm ashamed to say!
    Limerick?

Ahhh! Scythians! As a classicist, I officially love you. And the greatest thing-- it's in line with Herodotus! Great job!

Your clever rhyme recalls the charge of the griffin to guard the gold, as well as the exquisite goldwork found in Scythian burial mounds in Asia. I like that the pearl in his mouth has been transformed into the egg with the golden yolk. Well done - this shines!

Holy cow - it's Scottish and it has a Cairngorm quartz from the Scottish Highlands in it and it's mine, all mine!

I find the aspects of it being Scottish with a stone that is now considered rare, and the strangeness of a real grouse claw, yikes, what more could you ask for, lol

I know, I have a thing for taxidermy. I had a stuffed squirrel in my wedding dressed as a bridesmaid.

Really, I thought this doesn't look anything like a North American partridge foot - it looks like a sloth or something - then I read it's the Scottish grouse.
