Carrying the cross.
Crying out for love and the love of God,
She stands hands held in deepest prayer
Will any river anywhere ever carry her heart
To somewhere safer than this lonely wasteland?
The smoke was still rising and the bullets were still hot
As I approached the bodies the soldiers had shot
Justice and reason cannot walk side by side
In these terror filled days that have been handed down
To our lost generation of drug filled losers.
Tell me where it all went wrong and when you traded
Goodness for an attitude of me myself I.
The school I went to taught me history repeats itself
And the sins of the father are paid for by his children.
Our world is at war again, always has been always will be.
You carry your cross and I carry mine.
In the absence of a saviour we are all sinners fit for a cross.
My morals are as grey as the rain filled clouds above,
And nothing any fool can say will make me believe in people like you.
The politicians are just as good as the society they come from;
They can’t be blamed for young kids stabbing each other or couples so devoid of love they need drugs to sleep.
Correct me if I am wrong but I am sure you have heard all this before.
Grey sky turns to blue and blue sky turns to black
And every one you try to love just stabs you in the back.
Crying out for love and the love of God I stand
Waiting for someone to save me and a god to save our world.
Author notes
sounds like a plea for help on a personal and also a spiritual level.
ou be surprise sometimes, but you have to keep your heart open and not close it up.

Amen!
Your message is read loud and clear. We must all keep our hearts open and pray for one another and keep an open mind. God will praise those who are faithful. Your words are very powerful and meaningful and so filled with passion. Beautifully written! -
"The school I went to taught me history repeats itself
And the sins of the father are paid for by his children."
Maybe it was a poor school, famous for pumping out dreary cliches?
(sorry no acute accent on that last e)

I love this line "Tell me where it all went wrong and when you traded
Goodness for an attitude of me myself I." because I've often wondered that about the world myself. This place is not a perfect utopia, like we might want to hope, but I think that if more people were like you it might be a little closer to being better. I still wait for things to get better even though they might never find their way back to what they once were. People just have no morals these days.. and I think your poem speaks to a lot of this disallusionment, but also bringign up a good sense of hope. Please keep writing and posting to this site. I would love to read more from you in the future

This does not appear to be about self sacrifice or helping; but more a wail of discontent about the lack of love and care in the world. It is a 'waiting' and not a stepping forward to help or change anything. Your title would be better suited if it were to be changed to Waiting for the Cross. 'Sharing' implies:
bearing the burden, taking the risk, daring to hope. -
great way to connect religion to spirituality..if that is what you intended to do......your self portrayla is great too.I loved these lines in an attempt to portary self......
Tell me where it all went wrong and when you traded
Goodness for an attitude of me myself I.
The school I went to taught me history repeats itself
And the sins of the father are paid for by his children.
great poem.keep up the good work. Please visit some of my poetry as well. -
So much of what goes on in today's world does not affect us directly, because we are so far removed from it, and have developed a numbness when we read or see it because we have heard and viewed the same so many times before. It is easy to lose the faith and hope we had before. Only we can save ourselves, and by uniting with others with like sentiments, things can be changed. Don't give up hope!
