Our World

grass needs mowing
planets swirling
children's  laughter
babies crying
this makes the world go round

soldiers praying
catapiller crawling
dogs barking
meteors crashing
this makes the world go round

fruit trees blooming
cars speeding by
grocery prices rising
ice cream cone dripping
this makes the world go round

flowers blooming
juicy sweet tomatoes
gravitational pull
four leaf clovers
this makes the world go round

soldiers getting shot
soft breeze blowing
watermelon slices
a hole in the ozone
this makes the world go round

there is so much more that makes the world go round
be it in poetic form
scientific form
any other form
God created this world just for you
and for me!

  • Nicely put Sister!

This is a lovely peace, a great reminder of all the variety there is that "makes the world go round" thanks to our GREAT BIG WONDERFUL GOD! Amen! Love the background too! That Hubble telescope is really something, huh? How AWESOME is our Lord!!!

I love how you have connected the simple, every-day life to the complexity of creations in the universe. They are all connected, I feel - and each tiny thing in life affects something else.
    I really enjoyed this.
    best wishes in your contest.

Don't know why. Maybe I like the form. But, it gave me a nice warm fuzzy feeling. I wish you well in the contest.

Although the background is pretty in its way, I think it makes the poem a little too hard to read... I really like the 'list' way that you have gone about this - I think that it is very original the only thing that I thought of to mention is that you have 'fruit trees blooming' and then 'flowers blooming' which seems a little off because nothing else has the same repitition... the end two lines are very well done though - I enjoyed this very much - good luck in the contest!

    Keep writing

  • Such a beautiful poem. I really enjoyed reading this from beginning to end. Very nice take on the prompt. =) Keep on writing, until you can't write no more!

    ~Make Peace, Not War~

  • A lovely rich blend of happenings and goings-on that do indeed make our world go round. I like the way you've mixed them all in together, because if you sit and watch the world go by, that's just what you get to see ~ the good and the bad.

Nicely done, and best of luck in the contest.

  • You're right. Life, simple, frustrating, everyday living makes the world go around. Great piece. I love the first line! I used to panic about the grass (weeds)being mowed before our yard became an eyesore. My place in life depended on my front yard, with all it's perennials needing constant deadheading. Like the world would stop if I did not do it!

  • yes all of the above and more beautiful write.

  • I like what you have penned here dear poet, it is a great description of our great earth. Simple imagery, and I saw some wonderful pictures, and some sad ones. The background I like also very nice. Thanks for entering.

How true what you write in these lines; interesting background used to feature this poem. Certainly God keeps the world going round.

  • I like what you have said here, in our multi-faceted world you have captured many snapshots in the picture album of life. I also appreciate your closing lines giving credit where credit is due. Well Done!

  • I love this! You caught the randomness of the world and all that is in it, and that is what it takes for the world to go round. great job on this one.
