seemed vaguely familiar
with smells and objects d'art,
containing memories I remember
as never really there at all
Mrs B with her mad lady hair
bee's in the beehive
and harassed husband heard
to only whisper 'yes dear'
dog at number five
with the bear like teeth
felt in postman's posterior
only on Monday's
when the weekend made Jesse
too tired for walkies,
guess it was better than
biting the hand that feeds
duplex on the corner
with its shared walls,
noisy neighbours, students
and you
the one thing I describe as perfect;
your eyes when I passed by,
how they smiled when saying hello
and how I died when finally
I was invited inside

I guess I've been guilty of having that 'know thy neighbor not' syndrome for as long as I can remember. It works really well until you need a cup of sugar or you covet his wife. I wish you well in the contest.

This is so delightfully madcap and full of happenstance and madness dance, I can only wait to hear that he turned out to be a galactic presence needing a new insight on the plight of man.
