Ursula

She is umber robe in sable throw,
shadow swathed in glow,

an angel to turn day under

...But I barely know her,
for my hearth grows cold
within sunlit arms

where gold halo surrounds
pale skin and frail bone

...refusing to let go.

She enters, cape encircling;
a melanic miracle
that stills my shivering soul

...In breaths of deeper hues,
day becomes chattel
and eve breaks the manacles

enslaving my blaze.

Oh oh! What spectacular word choice! The imagery is wonderful, and the way you worded this piece is so rich. I like it that the stanzas are varied in length, but it "seems" as if there is sort of a pattern, even though there isn't, right? This is a refreshing read for me, and I wish I could read poetry like this more often!

You honor me by noticing the subtle pattern in
my verse. Even free-verse should have a certain
rhythm and I try to imbue my poetry with beat.
I think the richness comes from the use of colour.
I love to challenge myself by giving hues meaning
outside of shades. This is truly a comment to appreciate
as it offers much encouragement and shows me a reader
that was able to immerse in my words. Thank-you, Blue

Thank-you! My muse doesn't turn sensual very often
so it is a wonderful feeling to see the effort appreciated.
