Bittersweet Angels

Missing image

knife-edge, knife-edge
how tenderly you taunt me
baskets of flowers
dixie cups strewn at my feet
blankets of feathers woven
gingerly comforting my head

bittersweet, bittersweet
tasting my own bile
that hates me
weeping my own tears
that shame me

caw-caw, caw-caw
hollow are the answered words
I am lost, please be forgiven
pass the time of fate
lying naked in my own cell
flaunt me, rape me
whisper my name
so that I can keep drunk

you woke at midnight
my name on your lips
bitter the dawn that
smiles frankly at me
now consumed by fear
I walk with the dead
bittersweet angels
rolling in the dirt

  • Oh my! This is very raw! And you use quite the powerful language!
I find your use of 'dixie cups' to be quite great! A great way to discuss the bitterness she feels about being disposable.
And the repetition of the words in the first 3 stanzas is quite effective. Especially "caw-caw"...to me this isn't even referencing crows, more like being made fun of by someone...
    A great take.
thank you for entering and g'luck!
