Wash the Pain Away

Dark nights like this night,
I look up at the starless sky
and know that it's going to storm,
just by look at the clouds.

As tears begin to stain my cheeks, the rain falls.
I don't want to run inside and hide away,
I want to stand out here and let the rain
crash all around me and wash the pain away.

My clothes stick to my body as they are drenched,
I look up at the sky and let the rain wash away
the mascara stains on my cheeks and the pain in my face.
Nothing felt better than the feel of the rain on skin.
