Inside a cherubic gift:
Lurks some aches and pains.
Only befallen by tears in rains.
Very quietly, he cries.
Entirely, inside, he dies.
This little boy,
Often has to run.
Learning that life isn't that fun,
And forgetting lovely days under the sun.
Under his covers he lays...
Going back and forth over the day.
Hoping that tomorrow will bring some light,
And not having to hear them fight,
Not having to feel this death.
Dreams evaporate like single breaths.
Playing in grass fields,
Like a child, doing cart-wheels.
Also laughing and playing.
Yearning, dreaming and praying.
Author notes
The first letter of every first word in all the sentences make up: I LOVE TO LAUGH AND PLAY. I made up the line "I love yo laugh and play" initially and then formed an acrostic out of that.

Sadly penned, I love how this starts with an innocent sentence and becomes sad and deep
