Pinocchio

Missing image
Yearning for a son to love
to fill his heart with joy
Gepetto was a lonely man
who carved a wooden boy.

The toy began to laugh
and then began to talk
this toy had come alive
he could even walk.

Gepetto was so happy
told him to lie was wrong
do not tell the truth
your nose will grow long.

Naming him Pinocchio
sent him off too school
kidnapped by a bad fox
who broke all the rules.

Soon Pinocchio lied
his nose began to grow
the bad fox he met
put him in a show

Pinocchio had a friend
Jimminy Cricket was he
helped him out of trouble
though he was very wee.

Gepetto was so worried
he missed his new son
he needed to find him
before the day was done.

It was an adventure
swallowed by a whale
there is a happy ending
to this fairy tale.

Gepetto and Pinocchio
were together once more
each had learned a lesson
lived happily ever more.

  • Wonderfully Written!

I love how you have summarized the timeless tale of the woodcarver and his "son" in this poem. Very cleverly written. Those who aren't familar with the story of Pinocchio would definitely get a good idea of what it's about by reading your poem!

    Great Poem

Lovely work for this contest. A wonderful fairy tale with rhyme and rythm. The flow moves quickly to follow the fox and hoping for a happy ending as Gepetto and Pinocchio head for home.
