Tieing A Ribbon On The Old Oak

I hope you don't mind,
but today, before I leave,
I'm gonna leave a gift
for you-

I'm gonna
tie a ribbon
on this tree-

A ribbon of yellow
for friendship,

A ribbon of white
for hopes and dreams shared,

A ribbon of blue
for the tears shed,

And a ribbon of red
for love, shared truly-

These ribbons aren't much,
I know,

but...
with each one
I place,

is another memory,
made for us to share-

another thought for you
to carry with you,
to remind you,
there is one that
remembers you,

I love you
my friend,

I'll be back again
another day.

Wow what a way to honor

This is such an honor, a blessing to those gone past us. You really express yourself very well here. Indeed this book you are writing is going to be a LEGEND. A real powerful read.
I cry when I see a ribbon tied to a tree somewhere, a vet of a war..an unknown person, always a story behind it. So many lives story needs to be told. Sad when we have so many unknowns out there who just need to be remembered, loved.

TONY ORLANDO & DAWN would be proud!

You've giving a new and deeper meaning to that old TONY ORLANDO & DAWN song - as your old oak tree with ribbons of many colors seems to be a beautiful and spiritual place of peace and harmony where the soul of your unknown friend is alive and well, indeed!
    Love & Peace!
