down from the heavens,
she reaches in, to
the depths of my
heart.
Pulling my very being,
from the harshness I've
built around my soul;
hidden, yet now you're
part.
A dream I thought
could never be; now
a reality before me,
I exist with each
breath.
The love is shared,
you shield my world
from the evil and
harm, saving me from
death.
Tenderly cradling you in
my arms, the realization
comes that only you,
holds the power within
thee.
Without seeing those eyes,
I know there would
no longer be, the
very best part of
me.
Author notes
I looked at the photo, and actually thought of a portrait--art. Then, I let my mind wonder to your question. What is my kryptonite? Immediately, I knew the only thing that would be kryptonite to me, my Daughter.
I only have 1 child, I wanted 12--kids. I was lucky to be blessed. I'm lucky to be alive, giving birth to my daughter almost killed me twice. A month later I went in for exploratory surgery because my blood pressure kept dropping. They discovered I literally exploded inside, and was bleeding internally. I died for 10 minutes while on the operating table cause they just didn't realize the whole situation.
From the moment of birth, I've cherished the only gift --and the only thing that could break me is losing my daughter. Dang, I'm crying just thinking of such a thing.
I'm not sure if you can understand these feelings; I truly hope I've conveyed it in my poem, because it is from the heart and how I really feel.
I love you babyface...
The form of the poem is called: "Harrison Square"
Consists of 5 lines: Each line is strictly 4 words except the last line is 1 word only. The last line is the rhyming word with a rhyming scheme of AA BB CC DD etc... depending on how many stanzas. It should never end with an odd number of stanzas.
I hope you find it unique throughout--Thanks for a lovely contest!
