she won't go to rehab
because she hates the taste,
of worn black coats
on fur lined tongues,
the rest she thinks is waste
Amy is a little girl
growing smart in what she needs,
the money to roll
when fame goes cold,
men to provide every feed
can't scream at crows
as wings batter her skin,
yet she weeps for herself
and state mental health
where dying is an acceptable sin

ah! Yes, this most definitely sounds like an ode to Amy Winehouse. That poor girl is in a terrible state.
This definitely brings out the terrible feelings of bitterness and hopelessness that this Amy probably feels as her life unravels.
It's a terribly and true state of many people, so this poem is quite relatable.

I think you gave the host bitter because that's the taste it left in my mouth. I have no idea of the woman you're writing about but I do know a thing or two about depression and state run institutions built to deal with it. Good luck in the contest.

When we are driven to prove what is already proven, we beat empty drums and wonder why we feel we are the ones beaten down. You catch the sad truths that haunt the hearts of those who are ridden by their talent and can't see what it is that really makes the difference.
I have been a therapist and often all you do is reflect back hoping they will see themselves. They want you to fix them and you know the only one who can do the fixing is using the hammer to do all the damage.

Sadly over here in the UK Amy Winehouse is in the press all the time mainly because of the drugs,smoking,drinking and rolling out of clubs,it just goes to show that being a celebrity isn't everything and the pressures of fame has gotten to her,I like her music but I don't read the gossip columns,but I really like this write,Hazel

Sounds like Amy Winehouse, whoever that is, is not choosing the best manner in which to advance her career, if she has one. Men to provide every need, and not going to rehab. That's the sort that end up used and deflated. Good writing. Never let the reader down do you.
