Of Earth

Sitting on the green grass,
forgetting the world
with its worries and cares,
I put my hand on the earth beneath me
and FEEL...

The little pebbles,
the dry soil,
the grass;
a quilt of pure goodness;
and of a powerful life.

The sound and the noise
die away,
as if I were
transported to a different realm;
one of beauty,
of immortality,
of power...

Grass and soil,
trees and flowers,
lava and heat,
sand and mountains,
all together, a mixture
of charm and grace unsurpassed!

A splendour rarely felt
and often unnoticed;
it is the magnificence of "earth"!

    this is a sweet poem that i can totally relate to. Theres nothing like that feeling of getting back to nature to find peace and quiet for five minutes!! Great work on bringing such strong images to the readers mind.

    well i did not see any typos but i was wondering with the FEEl section at the beginning with it shouting, i thought there was no need for that as it would have been more subtle just in normal type and helped the poem along, and at the ending -
    it is the magnificence of "earth"!
    there is no need to use the speechmarks here, it would read better without them. also if you are going to use speechmarks or quotation marks etc the exclamation mark would go inside the other marks for ex - of "earth!"

    Beautiful poem and planet

    it's refreshing to read about the world in this way, for what it is, the absolute beauty that's there infront of us, that we can all feel but never take the time to and appreciate fully. there's one small typo, "little" in the second stanza. i loved the splash of cold water to the face freshness of this poem. keep writing! -Jamie

    This was well written/no typos that i could tell, and i loved your wording.
    'A splendour rarely felt
    and often unnoticed' This is how I always felt about such things. great job in penning it down.

    LITTLE? This is a very well written and evocative poem and again I found the line 'a quilt of pure goodness' an outstanding metaphor. It really sums up the feelings you are portraying of the earth. This is a deceptively simple poem yet highly effective. Well done and thanks for sharing.

    wow.. you've already have yours made out for this contest. Congrats for making it on round 2. I though have not yet written anything yet. hmmm... this element doesn't strike me out that much as the first one.
    This one was great though.. I just got an inspiration from it. Wonderful job on this.

    Blessed be

    Interesting and well written. i didn't see any typos, so good on ya. I thought this phrase was very interesting, though:

    a quilt of pure goodness;

    I think maybe it's just because I look at earth as neither good nor bad, but--as you said--powerful. If you look to characterize it, maybe you should point out the duality. Earth can destroy things as well as be benevolent and silent. Just some food for thought.

    Cheers to the great write!
