Sunday Supper

The whole family at the table
hands held all around.
From the head a whispered prayer
That is the only sound.
Soon, "amen" is uttered
showing all around agree.
The silence is then shattered
chatter buzzes loud and free.

Food passed around the table
plenty there for all.

Everyone is different

appetites both large and small.

Ice cold lemonade in a pitcher

fresh well water in a glass.

Mamma sees to everyone

no one dares to sass.

Laughter echoes through the house

old stories are re-told.

children set to giggling

a joy that's uncontrolled.

Finally the table cleared

and all the dishes done.

Another Sunday supper.

enjoyed by everyone.

You depict a wonderful scenario. I wish I could go back to days like that.
