Year in and year out, due vigilance shows.
Her quill to write fills a grand entry arbor.
The pretty pink bloom remains on the rose.
This garden is filled with great poems and prose,
hundreds of artists plying passion and ardor.
Year in and year out, due vigilance shows.
She’s a deep hued wine, with sensitive nose,
In tending tender shoots she provides safe harbor.
The pretty pink bloom remains on the rose.
The ink in her pen snaps, sparkles, and glows;
Many more years, may the good Lord provide her.
Year in and year out, due vigilance shows.
Year in and year out, due vigilance shows.
The pretty pink bloom remains on the rose.

Villanelle leaves little room to expand amidst refrains and the demands of the form, but this poem manages a theme of well earned respect and gratitude; so very well done in an effortless end rhyme. Thank you for this fine entry into the contest and best of luck in the judging...PK

Thank you PK for noticing this. Yes, I had to pick a subject that lended itself to much repetition and I couldn't think of a better one than a piece admiring our own dear poet Pam.

well done
This is a sonnet variant that I have not tried; you have worked the repeating lines with good sense, and I was tickled with the subtle rhymes in each line 2.
Pamela is one of our most talented poets, and as they say, birds of a feather.

Aw thank you Margret. I had to pay particular attention to detail since I was writing about Pam. Yes she is a gem here at AP.

Boffo!
You can really ride the flow of this and the rhymes are natural. Good stuff, Paul.

What a gorgeous form to write these sentiments within!
Comparing her to a fine wine is apt...she just seems
to get better. I found the metaphors here wonderful.

Thank you for such a lovely piece and a Villanelle Sonnet to boot.
I loved it, felt it and hope to live up to it. You are so kind to me. Thank you. Such beautiful poetry. ~Pamela

You're welcome Pam. This form was not as difficult for me to try as it might have been because the subject was so gracious.

What challenging architecture glows here...
WOW - I really love this piece! Your muse is showing much thought and creativity, as well as heart-felt appreciation for our dear poet pal. I have a question: is the harbor supposed to be safe (and not "save") in the third stanza? Just wondering. Best of luck in this contest, coz I know P.A.L. is gonna love this poem, too!! Peace, Cyn

Thank you Rose for your kind comment and thanks for catching the typo. I went over this well but didn't catch that one.
