You lured me with your bright fruit.
With eyes wide open I fell beneath your spell,
a flower so lovely it couldn't cause me harm.
No! They must have been mistaken!
But this madness, do I just fancy it
Or, could it be . . ??
I only meant to taste the sweetness,
to revel in the beauty of your bloom,
I didn't know how bitter that sweet taste would be,
how quick to sour on my tongue.
I didn't know that love could be,
another form of poison.
Author notes

Love that is misunderstood..
no matter how little
causes pain and sadness
Thank you for taking this
to your own place
best of luck

makes me shiver...
...with feelings, as I feel the emotion in this poem. I love the metaphor of the flowers and the Bittersweet fits so well in your feelings.
The last two lines have strong impact.

This is truly wonderful, there's a kind of downplayed twist to the poem, which really makes it work. very, very nicely done.
