Ut Oh

I remember falling in love
but I don’t remember when
I actually landed ,
or when the cute things
became irritating
and the thought of sleeping
felt more like a reprieve
than eight hours away from him.

It was over a bowl of cereal
when the dull throb of ‘ut oh’
began pulsating somewhere
in the bottom of my heart,
making it hard to swallow
without choking on the
sudden realization
that I couldn’t live with a man
who ate Rice Crispies
without sugar...

It really is the little things that culminate...I must say I was drawn in by the first line, and enraptured to the end. You put such modern, unique real-life words into your poems, it amazes me....

why shrink when the swollen ones far out number field days in an amazing cereal world? very cute. almost posthumously projected, but who can live without sugar? how do you remember so well? did you remember that time you forgot?

This certainly captures a life-altering moment,
or maybe just a much needed self-realization...
and wraps that in the cocoon of ordinary day.

OMG! Who would eat Rice Crispies
without sugar? Unheard of and should
    be a crime.

    Rice Crispies WITH sugar? EW!

I'm a Jordan's Country Crisp girl myself, with added cashews (preferably organic).

Not your greatest, but one of your goodest.

    I love this!

You do it. You hold the tiny pieces to the light and see everything through them.
    Bravo.

    Rice Crispies without sugar ?!?!?!?!

    That's inhuman!

I love the opening thought, should be easy for a shrink though. Just send him all your poems, by the time he's read them all, he'll be cured

Falling in love is always a breath of insanity with a the soaring flight of a hallucenogin (sp?) Landing is more like having the world come back into focus and your friends still there to let you know they care. Being in love, well, that's special and a totally different poem. Sometimes I just leave shaking my head and chuckling to myself from that warm place in the belly.
    Love, Tom B.
