Stop.
Listen for a minute.
Do you hear the children
screaming?
The bombs dropping?
The mother's crying?
Soldiers dying?
No.
How could you
POSSIBLY
hear that?
Sitting comfortably at home
Silence around you
Late at night
Maybe your father snoring.
But
what about the children
Who sit up
surrounded by screams of agony
Death cries
eighteen
Is not old enough
To kill a man
To flee bullets.
Eighteen
You are still a child.
Do you hear the silence?
Listen for the screaming.
At what age do you think anyone is ready to go into war, to kill another human being?

Nice.
Great poem, I love how you talk about the publics removal from war.
and in answer to your question, I reckon never. Killing another human being is something no person should have to (or want to) do.

I agree, this is a great poem. It reminds me of a song by james blunt (haha you know the guy that made the song "your beautiful" xD) he served in the kosovo war and wrote about it later. I'm not a big fan of his style of music but the song is great/sad. Heres a link if it works..

its the first song on the vid. Anyway, I can't see how any human being is truelly ready to kill another human being. War is not the answer to most things. Thank you for sharing great write
