Oh Emma, Emma, dark and fair,
You step as softly as a cat
Yet with such strong intention that
I can not help but wonder where
Your pretty paws will lead you.
Oh Emma, Emma, sweet and vile
You live as if you have nine lives.
I wonder how your mind contrives
The reasons for your strong denial
For all the love I give to you.
Oh Emma, Emma, dark and fair,
More animal than human now,
I love you still. I don't know how,
But take me with you. Take me there -
To any place that pleases you.
Oh Emma, Emma, sweet and vile,
I do not have your bravery,
But I'll submit to slavery
If you'll not hold me in denial...
My panther, I belong to you!

Oh, I love this piece! I like the mystery that your words imply, and though I always have liked your rhyming, I think this rhyming scheme is my favorite. The repetition adds to the originality I think, but it also gives the poem more depth. I think it's interesting --like OrangeMarmalade said-- that this poem can be interpreted in many different ways, and rereading this again, I have to agree!

This poem is very nice cuz it reminds me of my black cat.
I really love my cat.
Also, I like the pic you chose! The first stanza is my favourite.
Blessings,

Interesting
Development of a theme...it seems to twist from one idea to another, from human to anthropomorphized animal, to wild beast...but human still...
There's a lot you can make of this, and interpretations are endless.
