A Thousand Suns

Missing image

Dia dhuit,

Good Poetess, peace be unto you,
and let this be our enduring prayer
of thanks - unto all that will read and hear,
when our words fail, your words prevail.

Your muse is shining with a thousand suns,
warming hearts with each new day begun,
and silently guiding lost souls home –
to the joy of reading your gift of poem.

Go raibh maith agat,

Rose of Ireland

Author notes

Happy Birthday, Pamela!!!!

Contest Prompt is to write poetry modeling/invoking her personal style. She says of herself:

"I view poetry as a medium that invites one to evoke thoughtful emotion.

I enjoy many different kinds of poetry from free verse
to the traditional school structured verse.

I will try my hand at all types when time permits.
And, I am constantly looking to improve my craft
and share with others."

My hope is that the message conveyed within my poem is taken in the intended spirit of reflecting her love of creating and sharing the craft of poetry... Write on, shine on, Poetess!!!! xx

a thousand suns, such a wonder; and the idea is not new as far back as from ancient Egypt there were such words in praise of excellence...to shine like the sun... classic elegance and eloquence. Thankyou for this fine entry into the contest and best of luck in the judging...PK

Oh I love this, what a wonderful tribute to a fine poet! Loved the Gaelic as well. You know, I'm headed to Ireland at the end of August, for two weeks.

All the best in the contest my dear!

    Love and peace always,
    mj.

    This is very nice ...

and I only see one thing in it that I'd change if it were my own poem:

    shining of (shining with)

otherwise, it's well done and done well. I'm sure Pamela loved it.
