The slide glides on silver strings
And an old broken blue voice sings
All about his life in a song
Of loneliness and suffering
And heartbreaks and everything
That happens in a life long gone wrong
A life of hopes all unfulfilled
Of hardworking all day until
That lucky old sun decides to set
Some work out in the cotton fields
While others toil away in mills
In the evening drinking whisky to forget
Listening to preachers signifying
Learning to laugh to keep from crying
And dreaming of a better life somewhere
And you'll succeed if you keep on trying
But those that speak of change are lying
When you're living in a world that doesn't care

I have re read this ten times since finding it here this morning. It actually caused a welling of emotion in me.. Being a American small farmer I really know this poem .. really.
" But those that speak of change are lying, when you're living in a world that doesn't care."
