Happy Birthday Pamela

Both in free verse and rhyme she's a poet
A Winkling of note and renown
The ways that she chooses to show it
Show she's also a girl about town

With a Sapphical ode in old Pope's style
Or an aubade in praise of the dawn
She causes all others a broad smile
Though her rivals are often forlorn

Today she is Fifty she's claiming
And no-one believes that its true
This terrible fibbing is shaming
She's no nearer fifty than you!

So Pamela tell us the truth dear
You're really just thirty I'd say
Please nobody mention her birth year
Just join me in Happy Birthday!!!

    What pleasant rhyme!

Pamela's thirty and skirty; looks twenty with plenty!
She's not forty and naughty. She will wait to be fifty and nifty. Ron.

a wonderful tribute to a friend and colleague, respect is a dividend of character earned in abundance and so it seems here. Wonderful poetry too. Thank you for this fine entry into the contest and the best of luck in the judging...PK

    Cute ...

and I imagine she loved it. I haven't read the comments, but I'm sure she's already had something to say about it.

However, I'd have to say that you're wrong about one thing. She's probably nearer 50 than I am. I'll be 64 in January.

In any case, good job on a nice occasional poem.

  • A beautiful tribute to a lovely lady and anyone who reads it will have a smile on their face, especially Pamela.

    All the best

What a nice tribute for Pamela! I'm sure she will love it! Especially the "really just thirty" part! **

  • Lovely job here, Pam is a lovely lady with grace and care. She'll love it.

  • She is actually nearer fifty than I am but it all depends on how you look at, what side you are viewing it from.

I'd say thirty! And Happy Birthday. Great verses.

  • You are amazin' my friend. I am thirty ---- at least. Thank you for this. You are a GEM. ~Pamela
