Without Love The Children Cry With Hands Held High

Missing image

We see it everyday right here on our home land soil,
the children begging for love a country on slow boil.
Living so fast we ignore what is beneath us each day,
are the children with arms held high so left behind I would say.

Letting drugs run ramp-id in our country suicides of our young ,
tell me while we look upon other countries was it the song they sung.
Were their children in tears with arms held high,
why cant we see this in our own for today they cry.

Oh we paint a pretty picture of the home of the free,
yet their is more to this country than just you and me .
I see a future riddled in pain and lost and minds going wild,
as we live in a dream waiting for others to set it straight all the while.

What have you done to touch the children's hearts,
have you shown love to all have you done your part .
For it takes us all to keep this country free and alive,
tell me as you look around are there still homeless this night.

Some are soldiers that fought for our freedom this day ,
some are children who has lost their way .
Some are our elderly unable to live on their social security for their health care robs them blind,
and all along money is given to the lazy of our time .

This country is not immune to the perils of the day,
will we follow the other countries and fall along the way .
Or will we each give a helping hand and rid this country of greed and hate and take a stand.

Dont you think its time we lend our soldiers a helping hand ?

For we are the soldiers to keep the peace ,
we as one can fulfill every-ones needs .
We the people of the land of the free,
what will it take to make us see.

Author notes

To have our country be the place we speak of with freedom and equality for all to know and feel this love we have to step back and take a look at what we have done . Look about you at the children and know for them to know this peace they have to be taught love and given love from birth . To be taught how to respect others by them receiving respect when young how to show love by being given love and to spend time with your children not leave them with strangers to be raised from age four . Wake up America our peace is truly in our hands the people who gives birth and raises our young we are the key to true peace and freedom .

    Very true

I like this poem, its content is very relevent and true. Before I graduated from high school, my American History teacher asked our class of we thought it was fair that we help other countries when we habe probblems to solve of our own. But, this was very well written.
