Madonna

I saw the Madonna
down at the docks
today

she wore the halo
of ringworm
each scaly scab
an excess of purity
and promise
of life

pushing a shopping cart
full of baby jesui
(now dead for our trangressions)
and other things wounded
that squirmed too much
to look at

she bummed a fag
and flashed me a grin
with her beetled black eyes
as if to say, "Ah...you see"
mouthing a blessing
in a tongue I did not know
in a breath to shrivel sin

As I dropped to my knees
she headed southward
towards the city
following the new evening stars
and
she will leave stains
for the faithful to worship

Clearly a classic Bohb poem.... and definitely welcomed as an new offering.

Didn't know there was another sighting. Must investigate.

It is hot and humid. I am languishing ...

reminds me a little of Suzanne by Cohen, where 'she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from china' and just when you think you have no love to give her........ ah yes. she is the inked out stain of forgiveness and the fortitude of man..
