From inside this darkened space
the oppression starts to crush,
through window peeks a lighter place
designed by God's own brush.
Yet I'm confined within these walls
ones of my own making,
if I'm not careful I shall fall,
a heart lonely and breaking.
The window's open just a mite
a signal to my release,
to turn away from the darkened night
and maybe finally find peace.
The curtain starts to quiver
a small sign of the new day
and deep within I feel a shiver
that maybe I can find my way.
Cast of the self inflicted chains
discover this fine world,
I won't live within this constant pain
but let my heart unfurl.

Good job. Reading this, I could almost see those curtains fluttering and beckoning the speaker outside. Thanks for entering.

So very enlightened and spiritual. You certainly are in a reverent mood this day. Beautifully written.
