Dancing Con Amore

Dancing Con Amore
Written June 3rd, 2005

They called her Sapphire, as she danced
beneath the glowing stars and moon
Twirling, lost within a world of fantasy
swaying to the beat of her own tune

We stared in awe, through the gardens
to where she ruled the fountain's floor
Holding arms around a mystery lover
slightly tilting her head, con amore

Deep velvet blue clung like cellophane
against the curves of her aging youth
So alluring against Mediterranean skin
kissed by sunlight's bronzing hues

Golden elegance, glimmered daintily
from the silken hollow of her throat
Displaying a gem, much like her eyes
smoldering sapphires, carrying hope

Mingling through the night, we watched
while the party thrived, she danced on
No one seemed to know her true name
or care that she really danced alone

As her laughter filled the air, at dawn
we wondered, who'd take her home
Turning just in time, to catch a glimpse
of Sapphire fading into marble stones
