Pricked by a loom
The sweet innocent girl
Once a princess...
Was induced into a curse of
Deep dark sleep
where
Even her whole court too was frozen...
By a wicked witches spell.
As time passed,
Her castle was overrun with so many vines
That it was hard to see.
but
One day, a flying Dragon say it from the sky.
Curious as to why it remained silent
With no joy or laughter inside,
The Dragon lit upon the castles walls
and
As as he looked within its court...
Everything was cold and still.
Searching for a clue as to why,
He started searching each room.
How odd he thought...
There is still food on the table
As if they were celebratin something.
Finally in one of rooms,
He happened upon a glass casket
where within...
He saw a princess of beauty beyond compare
still
With a frozen smile upon her face.
Wondering why she were in such a state,
He lifted the casket with his powerful claws
and pondered...
I wonder what would happen...
If I were to give her a kiss?
Would her beauty come alive and shine again
or
Would it not do anything
finally
The Dragon, a beast once cursed too
Bent down and ever so gently...
And
Brushed his grotesue lips to hers.
at first...
Nothing changed.
But as he turned to walk away
He noticed something differnt.
The lips of the sleeping princess twitched
and
Her once still heart began to move..
Startled the Dragon wondered
Did my kiss break her spell?
If so, what will she think when she awakes
I'm a Prince no more as I once was
but
An ugly beast despised and feared by many.
Not knowing his fate...
The Dragon waited...
Wondering what the Princess would do
When fully awake for her deep sleep.
Suprisingly
As she looked into the Dragons eyes...
She did see anything but love
So kissing him back...
Her kiss broke his spell of being a Dragon
and
He turned back into a gallant Prince.
And the enchantment of the court was broken.
Everyone came alive...
And the feast..
Now became a wedding ceremony...
Of a sleeping Princess and her beloved Dragon!
And as all fairy tales end...
They lived happily ever after!

Author notes
I changed this fairy tale to being awoke by a Dragon as I believe in their magic and collect them. I tried also too weave two stories together..the beast being a Dragon but with a loving heart showing love destroys all curses...

ahhh fairy tales.. everyone loves fairy tales including me.. happy endings thats the way I was taught that life should be like.. I wish it was that easy.. this is a beautiful poem.. one that everyone will surely love..
love they say is the strongest of all, it can last all eternity, and make things better.. *sigh**sigh* I wish things could be like this, but sad to say I'm a realist and try as I may, I seem to have trouble letting that concept into my head... I guess they succeeded in taking the little girl and destroying all of her dreams.. its sad when a child can't dream of these beautiful things. its even sadder that as an adult, she struggles with the same thing. but she is trying, trying really hard.
I really do love it.. maybe I even have a bg that might fit this.. I'll have to see. if you are interested in that idea sweetheart.
you've got a big heart and it shows through your poems.
good luck in the contest
