My Kind Of Country

You know I love my sunburnt country
But do you know just why?
I can't tell you everything
But I can surely try.

We all enjoy the greatest freedom
Do anything that we wish
To cook out side on campfires
Or in a roasting dish.

We may work some time in Dunedoo
A nice income; home we take
Then help  from all the family
To spend the dough we make.

The weather's mostly warm and dry
Nice for travel, you and me
See my place for a visit
Or go down to the sea.

Then the mountains are not far away
Any time you'd like a drive.
Some think driving is a pain
But me, I come alive.

The scenery's forever changing
Every way you choose to go
My camera's always with me,
That how I know, you know.

Lovely green in the Hunter Valley
That's just down the road
Going slowly across the hills
With only a small, light load.

Out west  is the wide open spaces
These roads are less well used
Kangaroos rule out there
With those scruffy looking emus.

Where you go,you're free to choose
But one thing's always certain
You'll meet nice people every day
With some you may be flirtin'.

Come with me, explore this land
Feel free to bring your wife
We'll all help you with directions
To help you enjoy your life.

The place where I live and love

Bob. This really makes me sit up and cheer. You said everything here that needs to be said without actually seeing it in reality. I really loved the sixth verse, although i though it was all wonderful. Great job indeed.

p.s. Do you have the tele on?

Yes, I have the Tele on. As you can see from the poem I love this place. I spent 14 years in NZ and 10 years in PNG but there is nothing like Oz. It is so beautiful.

Great stuff, Bob, your love for Oz shines in this simple verse. I know you love NZ too, and I share your feelings for both places myself.

There are times when I am torn between the two. I guess Oz will always be home. I appreciate your comments, thank you for being you.

I love NZ, too, but don't tell the Aussies. Maitland is just across the hills from our place, Maitland gets more rain and its river has water in it, otherwise we are close neighbors. {sort of} I write about what I know and after touring around and working all sorts of places for many years I haven't seen more than a small part of Aussie. You are welcome anytime.
      Cheers

      Bob
