Papers filled with empty, meaningless scribbles sit in front of the teen.
She’s waited so long for a chance, through music, to say
All that her heart has kept unsung, unspoken, unseen.
A music staff: five lines define what notes to play
But only she decides what those notes will mean.

Is she writing poetry or composing a song? Either way,
she WILL make it hers, won't she?
Thanks for entering the contest.

It was supposed to be about creating music; I tried to fix the wording a little to see if I could make that more clear. Don't know if it helped.
Thanks for hosting the contest! It's definitely harder for me to stick to writing short poetry haha. I'm glad I tried it out though.
