Imagined moments

Missing image
We sprinkled pepper on our eggs
and greedy eyes devoured
hand's graceful movements

Memories of this moment
when it's existence hinged
solely on shared words
and vivid imaginations

Now strikingly present,
every sense is drenched in
the heady aroma of this instant

We sprinkle pepper on our eggs
and I'm intoxicated
                          with you

This is brilliant. Your second stanza and the last two lines of your poem are really strong. This is one of those texture pieces that invigorates as well as captures. Poetry like this I always read and must admit, get a little hungry, even if it was not intentional. I love the whole piece as a metaphor. Nothing to mention critique wise. I like this. Very much so.

This makes me hungry...in all sorts of ways...you emote so perfectly the physical reactions to a persons presence that you hunger for...please pass the salt...LOL...Love this one too! Peace, Rhonda

lol, thanks. I have no idea...that prompt stood out to me straight away and I knew I had this in my head for it. (Easy to come up with because it IS an imagined moment in my head )

  • This would be a beautiful way to start any day. Pass the pepper?

  • Very clever write from this prompt!! I keep wanting to call you Lucy, even though I know you changed your name...it's too hard to say, temporarily-this all the time, and temp sounds too much like work...how about I still say Lucy! Thanks for all your encouragement, and I love your poem!

this is a delight - Thank you so very much for introducing me to your poetry. Love, Lane

  • Interesting write hun! I kept thinking about two people sharing a special moment together as they are about to head off to work, or perhaps just lounging around on a lazy weekend. But just being able to be there together, that nothing else matters until the dishes are cleared. Love this!

  • Breakfast

We sprinkled pepper on our eggs,
    were they curried or fried?
and greedy eyes devoured each other
    hand's graceful movements sighed.

    Memories of this moment shared
when it's existence hinged on trust
solely on shared words to feeling
and vivid imaginations to be us.

    Now strikingly present, beauty,
every sense is drenched from above
the heady aroma of this instant
    complete in living love.

We sprinkle pepper on our eggs
    forget ourselves in sneezing
    and I'm intoxicated
                              with you
    and me
until our hearts just end up squealing. X
  • I somehow still remember this so very well.
