Nascent night
bare darkness descended,
cloak over needful eyes
where light is prayer upon lips
grown weary of loveless hours
and wasted days; for fragile humankind
faith comes
called from warmer embrace,
of tomorrows rising over mountains
gold and bright to fill green valleys
and touch sky to waters,
and life is chance
come again and again to teach
the perfect past, the stepping stones
to flight skimming across vast seas
gleam in eyes and wet wings.
For we are wishes that fill empty winds
give purpose to chaos of air and clouds.
We find old faces in billowed sunsets
and beauty of silver night,
when moist ocean air leads us home;
visions of star filled night reminds
birth was once someplace else,
from a Mother known in stillness of hearts
and by calling from yet greater seas.

Man, did I ever catch an mage of an elder in the falling sunset and clodus over this horizon. Beautifully penned..... "birth was once someplace else"...... what an incredible thought-provoking phrase.

One thing that I love about this contest is that I can see the things coming out in each poem ...the things that she loves about the poet///and in your case, there are so many things to love...
An excellent poem so well crafted with all of the perfect elements to sigh to
