Oh I remember in my younger days ,
how we played with the firecrackers and sparkler displays .
When Mama told us be careful for it sure can cause pain,
and we heard nothing yet we cried after the boom and the ouch
ran to Mama again .
Oh we lit them and threw them and laughed with glee,
and once one fell between my shirt and me .
Oh my goodness I fell to the ground and rolled about ,
and everyone started laughing so funny they did shout .
We lit a band of firecrackers,
and placed beneath grandmas bed.
Ran outside and waited held our hand against our heads.
Mama saw us out there and she went to see,
and about that time Grandma jumped
and began to scream.
Oh we knew we were gonna get it ,
by the look on their face .
And Grandma held our mama back,
and replied their mine today.
She took us kids one by one,
into the outhouse that day.
Mama was all scared
but we came out laughing in such a way.
And when our Mama asked we told her grandma
whacked the switch on the toilet and said,
I scared you in somewhat the same way as she ruffked our head.
Oh how we loved the colors,
and the sparklers so fine.
For a bunch of country kids,
have such fun for a pack of firecrackers that
cost only a dime.
