from childhood not knowing what I was
going to be like now, I wonder.
Despite how we feel about ourselves,
our health, circumstances or self
worth.
How we see ourselves, and what we
are presently going through, do we
really know.
That there is someone far more important
than us that values us highly, and He
ordained us to live!
My son who is adopted in the face of a
friend's suicide shared he could never
do that ..I wondered.
Yes, my son could have been aborted,
but his Mom thought he was worthwhile saving.
My son taught me a lesson.
Even through his dark hours as a teenager
and young adult, my son hung onto life,
and I am so glad!
As far as myself, though having a genetic
disease that would be thought incurable,
my trust is in God who made me despite
the illness and feeling so alone with it's
weird symptoms.
Wondering how long I have is one thing,
but to use my life that I have to be a blessing
is another.
There is a purpose to our lives, no matter
what we think. If we could only grasp
how valued we are in our Master's eyes!
Author notes
In the face of illness, and rearing a son, I was face to face with the darkness that could consume one..Despair, discouragement and my son's own years of darkness has made me look back, thanking God for his mercies

This was great, especially how you showed all the blessings you've been given. It left me with lots of questions for myself. Nicely done.

Your poem left me with pondering thoughts...you should be proud on your son , as well on yourself..two stories, mom and son...the way you influences each other, is very touching. Your ending stanza is extremely powerful and true. Thank you for sharing

the Lord has his ways to choose your path as you make the steps you will know

-
Great work here
Yes to keep from being consumed by our own path no matter how bad it might be we must put others before ourselves and in doing so God will take care of the rest

I can relate so much to your son. My dark years started when I became a latchkey kid. But, yes, lessons we can learn from others .. friends, family, documentaries, etc. These observations are everywhere, if we want to receive inspiration or hope.

Your words represent a contemplative view of a dark past. Once the darkness has receded, it is amazing how much there is to be thankful for.
Walk with Him.

To find eyes that can still recognise that for which gratitude is due, even in bleak times, is a very powerful gift and source of strength.
Thank you for sharing.

Toni, you are so kind with your words..You are a testimony as well dear with your poems. Yes, we do rely on Him to help us through life as long as we are here!
And after reading your poem on angels I know they help and assist us as well. Thanks for your words of encouragement! -
A WOnderful Testimony....
in the face of adversity, you and your son have both stood firm not allowing that looming darkness to comsume you and reaching out with a display of faith and giving God the opportunity to send down his mighty hand and pull you out of the darkness and sheltering you under his mighty wings of love and nestle you both bringing you through into his glorious light. AMazing story of a great testimony!!! Thanks for sharing!!!~~Toni~~ -
Bear, thank you! Some of us can give a part of our life to encourage others in the struggles of life. None of us can say there will not be the "lows", the "valleys" after the mountain top experiences. But we can offer a helping hand to those who are going through their "lows" as we may need their help sooner or later...Thanks for your words of encouragement!

Your last stanza speaks truth......this write touched me from the very beginning......we wonder.....how it will be.......yet something inside of us keeps whispering....."live!"
Using what life we have to be a blessing.....what a rich idea!
I believe God would want it that way........thank you so very much for sharing with others...
......Godbless,
Bear ~
