Dismissing Love’s Ardor

Our union shall never be
Discontented, it stirs
the humanity of me
a widow's silent song
trapped like sewage
with nowhere to go
Passion its only savior
sheer will, focused desire
a desire to break free
past the flesh that stains
the acid spirit I contain
Elusive, to the solution
an embrace of true love
I defy its beckoning
its lie of human touch
to ignite internal fires
For I have faced it
head on with open arms
only to wallow in denial
the denial that I wasted
in the weakness of fools
I am too powerful for you
