Life's Aftertaste
Written September 11, 2004
Warrior to servant, ridden beyond death's path
gazing into the memories of a black looking glass
through lifetimes of triumphs and hollow victories
running naked beneath the moon's crying beams
Gazing through the fortress of a lost soul's demise
gripping bones exposed, hunger torturing the mind
euphoric glimpses of love's scents once inhaled
overshadowed by corpses, that once I'd impaled
Sorrow forsaken, amuck in the ego's grasp
taunting the lies of sinners, accepting life's aftermath
lost, alone yet sublime within the taint of misery
tasting thine own blood, that only now becomes sweet
