Forest Guardian
Written November 6, 2004
I lie in wait as the winds come softly
threatening to chill my weary bones
silently against the tallest oak
willing it's essence to keep me warm
Beneath my feet energies stir
invoking the power of spirit within
as my earthly body leaves it's shell
I meld with the oak as winter begins
Centuries of ancient knowledge fill me
as I slumber and the year wheel turns
I feed the life source of the old oak
and it quickens my spirit in return
The forest shall await the spring
and I shall guard it with my soul
keeping watch inside the mother
the ancient, wise and fertile oak
Upon rebirth I continue my vow
to guard the forest from man's ways
gliding on wings, locked in a memory
of a past lifetime that clings each day
In a list
